Griffin's Gallery heart is just not involved in art, but also animal rescue.

When Hurricane Katrina hit, Rachel, with the strong encouragement of her husband, Joe, went down to help. At first Rachel, through Good-Works PAC, started in Tylertown, MS with the Red Cross, distributing bulk supplies and issuing debit cards. When her tour was done there, she and a friend went to Gonzales, LA, where the Humane Society of the United States had funded a facility where different rescue groups were working rescuing animals out of the flood stricken street and houses of New Orleans.

One thing lead to another, and Rachel continued to go to New Orleans over the months to rescue all sorts animals, including tarantulas, snakes, and lizards! Animal Rescue New Orleans was the main group she worked with, which is now a local group trying to continue the efforts there. Best Friends was the last organization to leave New Orleans, and in Rachel's experience was the most generous, and well organized of all the groups. Today Best Friends continue to help smaller organizations with the overflowing shelters needs, when much larger organizations have not yet put their money into action, since pulling out on October 15, 2005.

Rachel and Joe continue to help how they can by fostering animals and finding loving homes for them.
